Surprising facts about Dogs.

As a bit of fun we thought we'd share some interesting facts we've found out over the years doing our job!

  • Your dog is as smart as a 2 year old. Dogs are said to understand the same amount of words and gestures as a 2 year old.

  • Dogs cleverly have a sense of time. It's true your dog can tell the time! They pick up or routines and habits so they can tell when it is dinner time or time for a walk!

  • Your dog's whiskers help them to 'see' in the dark! Whiskers help dogs to navigate their surroundings in the dark by picking up changes in air currents. Providing them with information about the size, shape and speed of things nearby.

  • Dogs only have sweat glands in their paw pads. That is why on a hot day it can be helpful to wet their feet with cool water to help keep them cool. However their primary form of temperature regulating comes from them panting.

  • A dog's sense of smell is 1000 to 10 million times better than a human's. Dependant on breed dogs have between 125 million to 300 million scent glands in their nose.

  • Dogs can hear 4 times as far as humans. While puppies are born death, they quickly overtake humans ability to hear. Dogs can hear a large range of frequency. Ranging from 67 to 45,000 hertz.
